Julia Shanker

Julia Shanker is a Brooklyn-based writer, editor, and producer originally from East Lansing, Michigan. She is currently pursuing an MFA at NYU’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute, where she is focusing on longform writing and audio production. She graduates in 2026.

Julia’s work explores the intersections of women’s issues, politics, and art, blending meticulous reporting with stylistic storytelling. She is currently working on a thesis project about psychedelics and postpartum depression.

Julia also works as a Creative Copywriter for the luxury shoe brand Alexandre Birman and a Spring Editorial Intern at Elephant Magazine.
